Job Description

Job Summary

The Community Health Worker will serve as a vital link between the healthcare system and the community, helping individuals and families access essential health services, understand health information, and adopt healthier lifestyles. This role involves fieldwork, community engagement, health education, and coordination with healthcare professionals and local stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular community visits to identify health needs and provide basic health education
  • Support health awareness campaigns on topics such as hygiene, nutrition, maternal health, and disease prevention
  • Assist individuals in accessing healthcare facilities and government health schemes
  • Maintain accurate records of community interactions, health cases, and follow-ups
  • Work with medical teams to track patients requiring ongoing care or referrals
  • Promote vaccination drives and preventive healthcare initiatives
  • Identify high-risk individuals and ensure timely intervention support
  • Organize and participate in community health camps and outreach programs
  • Provide emotional support and basic counseling to community members when needed
  • Report public health concerns to supervisors in a timely manner

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Diploma in Community Health or related field preferred)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in rural and urban community settings
  • Basic understanding of healthcare practices and public health principles
  • Empathy, patience, and cultural sensitivity
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer literacy for reporting and documentation

Experience

  • 0โ€“2 years of experience in community outreach, healthcare support, or NGO fieldwork preferred
  • Freshers with strong passion for community service are encouraged to apply

Working Hours

  • Full-time role: 5โ€“6 days per week
  • Flexible working hours depending on field visits and community program schedules
  • Occasional weekend participation for health camps and outreach events

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of basic public health and sanitation practices
  • Ability to conduct community surveys and collect field data
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in field conditions
  • Excellent verbal communication in local language(s) and English (preferred)
  • Ability to build trust and maintain strong community relationships
  • Awareness of government health schemes and NGO operations
