Job Summary

The Cruise Security Assistant is an entry-level role responsible for supporting onboard safety, access control, and general security operations across passenger and restricted crew areas. This position plays a key part in ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for guests and crew members while maintaining the highest standards of maritime safety compliance. The role is ideal for individuals who are vigilant, disciplined, and eager to begin a career in maritime security and cruise operations.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor and control access to passenger and restricted areas onboard the cruise vessel
Conduct routine security patrols across decks, cabins, and operational zones
Assist in screening passengers, visitors, and crew during embarkation and disembarkation
Report suspicious behavior, safety hazards, or security breaches to senior officers immediately
Support CCTV monitoring and incident documentation under supervision
Assist in emergency response procedures, including evacuation and safety drills
Ensure compliance with ship security protocols and international maritime safety standards
Provide courteous assistance to guests while maintaining security awareness at all times

Required Skills and Qualifications

Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
Basic understanding of safety or security procedures preferred
Strong observation skills and attention to detail
Good communication skills in English (additional languages are an advantage)
Ability to remain calm and alert in high-pressure situations
Physically fit and capable of standing/walking for extended periods
Willingness to work onboard a cruise ship for extended contracts

Experience

Freshers are welcome to apply
Prior experience in security, military, hospitality, or customer service is an advantage but not mandatory

Working Hours

Rotational ship-based shifts (day and night duty schedules)
Typical shifts range between 8–12 hours depending on operational requirements
Work schedule follows maritime contract rotation (e.g., 3–6 months onboard assignment followed by leave period)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Basic knowledge of safety and emergency procedures onboard vessels
Ability to follow strict protocols and chain-of-command structures
Situational awareness and quick decision-making abilities
Strong interpersonal skills for guest interaction and conflict de-escalation
Team collaboration in a multicultural onboard environment
Familiarity with surveillance systems and access control systems is a plus
