Job Summary
Blue Horizon Maritime is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Galley Assistant – Cruise Kitchen Helper and Utility Staff to join our onboard culinary operations team. This role is essential in supporting the ship’s food and beverage department by maintaining cleanliness, assisting culinary staff with food preparation, handling kitchen supplies, and ensuring that galley operations run smoothly and efficiently.
The ideal candidate is energetic, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced international hospitality environment while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, safety, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities

Assist chefs, cooks, and kitchen staff with basic food preparation tasks including washing, peeling, chopping, and organizing ingredients.

Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all galley areas, including workstations, storage rooms, and food preparation zones.

Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, trays, and kitchen equipment using appropriate sanitation procedures.

Support stock rotation and proper storage of food products according to health and safety standards.

Assist with loading, unloading, and organizing kitchen supplies, ingredients, and inventory.

Remove waste materials and ensure garbage disposal procedures comply with environmental regulations.

Help set up kitchen stations before meal service and support cleanup after service.

Follow all onboard safety, food handling, and hygiene regulations.

Work closely with the culinary team to ensure smooth meal service for passengers and crew.

Report equipment issues, shortages, or sanitation concerns to supervisors immediately.
Required Skills and Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent qualification preferred.

Basic knowledge of food handling, sanitation, and kitchen safety standards.

Strong physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods.

Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Good communication and teamwork skills.

Willingness to work in multicultural environments onboard cruise vessels.

Basic English communication skills required.

Food safety certification is considered an advantage.
Experience

Previous experience in hotels, restaurants, catering, cruise ships, or institutional kitchens is preferred.

Entry-level candidates with strong work ethic and willingness to learn may also be considered.

Experience with cleaning equipment, kitchen tools, and sanitation practices is beneficial.
Working Hours

Contract-based onboard employment.

Typically 10–12 hours per day depending on operational requirements.

Rotational shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Standard contract duration may range from 6 to 9 months onboard.
