Job Description

Job Summary

Rand Water is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Group Reporting Accountant to join its Financial Reporting and Analysis team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timely preparation of group financial reports, statutory reporting, management accounts, and financial analysis to support executive decision-making.

This role requires an experienced finance professional who can manage complex reporting processes, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and provide meaningful financial insights that contribute to organizational sustainability and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements.
  • Manage group reporting processes across business units and subsidiaries.
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, GAAP, and other statutory reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate year-end audit preparations and liaise with internal and external auditors.
  • Review financial submissions from divisions and ensure reporting accuracy.
  • Analyze financial performance trends, variances, and key business drivers.
  • Prepare board reports, executive management reports, and stakeholder presentations.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning processes.
  • Develop and improve reporting frameworks, financial controls, and accounting processes.
  • Ensure proper implementation of finance policies, procedures, and governance standards.
  • Assist in tax reporting, regulatory submissions, and treasury reporting where required.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance to internal finance teams.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as CA(SA), ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting standards, and corporate accounting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar finance systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational skills.

Experience

  • Minimum 5–8 years of progressive experience in accounting, financial reporting, or financial analysis.
  • Prior experience in group consolidation and statutory reporting is essential.
  • Experience in large corporate, utility, infrastructure, public sector, or multinational environments will be advantageous.
  • Proven track record of managing audits and regulatory reporting.

Working Hours

  • Standard working schedule: Monday to Friday
  • 08:00 AM – 05:00 PM
  • Additional hours may be required during month-end, quarter-end, and annual reporting cycles.

  • Ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment.
  • Leadership capability with the ability to mentor junior finance professionals.
