Job Summary
The Porter and Driver – Hospital Logistics and Patient Transport plays a vital role in ensuring the safe, timely, and efficient movement of patients, medical equipment, specimens, and essential supplies within the hospital and between healthcare facilities. This position supports clinical and non-clinical teams by maintaining smooth operational flow, prioritizing patient comfort, safety, and dignity at all times.
Key Responsibilities

Safely transport patients within the hospital (wards, diagnostic units, operating theatres, and discharge areas)

Provide inter-facility patient transfer services when required

Handle and transport medical equipment, specimens, and hospital supplies securely

Assist nursing staff in transferring patients using wheelchairs, stretchers, and beds

Ensure all transport equipment is clean, functional, and properly maintained

Follow infection control, safety, and hospital hygiene protocols strictly

Maintain accurate logs of patient and item transportation activities

Assist in emergency response situations as directed by clinical staff

Ensure vehicles used for patient transport are clean, fueled, and roadworthy

Support hospital logistics operations during peak hours or emergencies
Required Skills and Qualifications

Basic education (High School Diploma or equivalent preferred)

Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

Knowledge of road safety regulations and hospital safety standards

Ability to handle patients with care, empathy, and professionalism

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Basic understanding of medical transport procedures (advantageous)

Ability to work in fast-paced and high-pressure environments

Physical fitness to handle lifting and movement of patients safely
Experience

Minimum 1–2 years of experience in patient transport, hospital support services, or logistics driving preferred

Experience in healthcare environment is a strong advantage

Fresh candidates with relevant driving and support skills may also be considered
Working Hours

Shift-based schedule (including nights, weekends, and public holidays)

Rotational shifts depending on hospital operational requirements
