Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Remote Mortgage Underwriter to join our growing financial operations team. In this role, you will evaluate mortgage loan applications, assess borrower risk, and ensure compliance with lending guidelines and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, deep knowledge of mortgage underwriting principles, and the ability to work independently in a remote, flexible environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze mortgage loan applications for approval or rejection
  • Evaluate borrower creditworthiness, income, assets, and liabilities
  • Ensure compliance with internal lending policies and external regulations
  • Verify documentation accuracy including employment, credit reports, and property details
  • Collaborate with loan officers, processors, and compliance teams
  • Identify potential risks and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Maintain detailed records of underwriting decisions and findings
  • Stay updated with mortgage industry regulations and guidelines

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of mortgage underwriting principles and guidelines
  • Knowledge of FHA, VA, USDA, and conventional loan programs (preferred)
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication and documentation abilities
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setup
  • Proficiency in mortgage underwriting software and MS Office tools

Experience

  • 2–5 years of experience in mortgage underwriting or loan processing
  • Prior experience in banking, financial services, or lending institutions preferred
  • Remote underwriting experience is an added advantage

Working Hours

  • Part-Time Flexible Schedule
  • Expected availability: 20–30 hours per week
  • Flexible shifts based on project requirements and deadlines
  • Remote work with occasional virtual meetings

  • Strong knowledge of credit analysis and risk assessment
  • Familiarity with mortgage compliance standards and lending laws
  • Ability to interpret financial statements and credit reports
