Job Description

Job Summary

RuralRelief NGO is seeking a motivated and committed Rural Development Program Assistant to support the planning, implementation, and monitoring of community-based rural development initiatives. The role involves working closely with field teams, local communities, and program coordinators to ensure effective delivery of livelihood, education, health, and infrastructure support programs in rural areas. The ideal candidate will be passionate about grassroots development and capable of working in dynamic field environments.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of rural development programs and community outreach activities
  • Support field visits, data collection, and baseline surveys in rural communities
  • Coordinate with local stakeholders, community leaders, and beneficiaries
  • Maintain accurate records of program activities, attendance, and progress reports
  • Help organize training sessions, workshops, and awareness campaigns
  • Monitor project progress and report challenges or gaps to supervisors
  • Assist in preparing documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and donor use
  • Ensure compliance with NGO policies and project guidelines
  • Support logistics for field operations and community events

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Rural Development, Sociology, Development Studies, or related field
  • Strong communication skills in English and local language (Tamil preferred)
  • Basic understanding of rural development issues and community engagement
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work in field conditions and travel to rural locations
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Good organizational and documentation abilities

Experience

  • 0–2 years of experience in NGO work, community development, or field-based projects preferred
  • Fresh graduates with strong interest in rural development are encouraged to apply

Working Hours

  • Full-time position
  • Standard working hours: 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM
  • Field visits may require flexible timing and occasional weekend work based on project needs

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of rural livelihoods, agriculture, education, or health development sectors
  • Ability to engage effectively with rural communities and build trust
  • Strong problem-solving and adaptability in field environments
  • Report writing and basic data analysis skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High level of cultural sensitivity and empathy
