Job Summary

The American Red Cross is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Virtual Authorization and Scheduling Specialist to support healthcare coordination and patient service operations remotely. This role is responsible for managing appointment scheduling, verifying insurance authorizations, and ensuring seamless communication between patients, providers, and internal teams. Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule patient appointments across multiple healthcare services and departments.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and insurance companies to resolve scheduling or authorization issues.
  • Monitor appointment calendars to optimize scheduling efficiency and minimize gaps or overlaps.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and confidentiality standards (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Provide timely follow-ups with patients regarding appointment confirmations, rescheduling, or required documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve workflow processes and patient experience.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate or Bachelorโ€™s degree preferred).
  • Proficiency in scheduling systems, electronic medical records (EMR), and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong understanding of insurance verification and prior authorization processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1โ€“3 years of experience in healthcare scheduling, medical administration, or insurance authorization.
  • Prior experience in a remote or virtual healthcare support role is an advantage.

Working Hours
