Job Description

Job Summary

Cruise Ship Jobs is seeking an energetic, compassionate, and highly organized Youth Staff / Kid’s Club Coordinator to deliver exceptional entertainment, supervision, and educational experiences for junior guests onboard our cruise vessels. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and facilitating age-appropriate activities, creating a safe and welcoming environment, and ensuring children and teens enjoy memorable vacation experiences while their families travel with confidence.

The ideal candidate is passionate about working with children, experienced in group engagement, and capable of creating fun, structured, and educational programs that align with the cruise line’s family entertainment standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and lead engaging activities for children and teenagers of various age groups onboard the ship.
  • Conduct arts and crafts sessions, games, sports, educational workshops, themed events, talent shows, and interactive entertainment programs.
  • Ensure the safety, supervision, and well-being of all children participating in youth programs.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records, sign-in/sign-out procedures, and parent communication logs.
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, and fellow crew members to enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure all youth areas, playrooms, and activity spaces remain clean, organized, and safe.
  • Assist with special events such as birthday celebrations, holiday-themed activities, and family entertainment programs.
  • Monitor children’s behavior and handle conflicts or concerns professionally and calmly.
  • Enforce ship safety procedures and emergency protocols related to youth operations.
  • Collaborate with entertainment, hospitality, and guest services teams to create exceptional family experiences.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree or certification in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Recreation, Education, or related field preferred.
  • CPR, First Aid, and Child Safety certifications preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to engage children with enthusiasm, creativity, and patience.
  • Fluent spoken and written English; additional languages are considered an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Professional appearance and positive attitude.

Experience

  • Minimum 1–2 years of experience working with children in settings such as schools, daycare centers, camps, resorts, childcare centers, or family entertainment facilities.
  • Previous cruise ship, hospitality, resort, or recreational program experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience managing groups of children across different age categories is preferred.

Working Hours

  • Flexible rotational schedule, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Typically 8–11 hours per day depending on voyage schedules and guest activities.
  • Contract-based employment, usually ranging from 4–8 months onboard.

  • Strong understanding of child development principles and age-appropriate activities.
  • Ability to maintain a safe and structured environment.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution and behavior management.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing schedules and guest needs.
  • Strong teamwork and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during emergencies or challenging situations.
  • Creative thinking and event planning capabilities.
